The DUMSS Society (Dublin University Management Science Society), formerly known as MSISS Society, is a society for MSISS students. It is run by the Junior Sophister class, who at the beginning of the year nominate a chairperson, secretary, treasurer and a committee who are responsible for the activities and financial affairs of the society.

At the beginning of the year a small sub is required from each MSISS student to finance the Society. The Society organises a number of nights throughout the year such as;
  • Fresher's night which is held in the first month of the opening term, and is designed to help the first years to get to know each other and students from other years of MSISS.
  • Karaoke night which allows MSISS students to show off their considerable singing talents
  • Previous Students night which is held in second term and involves some previous MSISS students coming back to the Statistics Department and talking to current students about themselves and their career paths, with a wine reception afterwards.

All these nights are subsidized by the Society, as is the DUMSS Society Trip which is the highlight of the Society's year (and MSISS!). This usually occurs early in the Hilary term, and involves spending a weekend away, usually in Cork or Galway, although going abroad is not totally out of the question. This weekend always provides the backbone for the MSISS rumour mill, which can be unscrupulously scathing. The 2000 trip to Galway being a case in point, as it is still talked about, and the recriminations are still being felt!

The DUMSS society is one of the best run society's in the college, and is another good reason for joining the MSISS course.
