Contrary to the belief of some, MSISS is not all about the degree, it's also about the football. Unleashing passionate emotions in each year of MSISS, the football league is held during the second term each year in the Sports Hall. Contested by teams representing each year, the competition is run on a league basis (hence the nameā¦) with the champions and runners-up qualifying for the cup final - surely the highlight of the academic year. The teams all play each other twice, six games being the difference between glory and ignominy. The games are always contested in a 'friendly' spirit. However, the tremendous pride and passion involved sometimes leads to emotions boiling over. Battered shins and black eyes are not unknown. However, a few friendly pints in the Pav after the match is the usual outcome.
Also a MSISS football team, open to students from all four years, play in the Trinity Mega League and Trinity Cup each year. In 2002, the MSISS tyros did the "double" only losing one match throughout the course of the season. It is hoped that this proud record will be continued over the coming years.
